Philosophy:
Heather’s coaching philosophy is based on the art and science of training. Her main focus is on maximizing her athlete’s time, understanding their history, fitness level, strengths and areas of improvement to help them achieve their goals. Heather provides the opportunity to help each athlete understand the “why” and “what” of training and she continually looks for new and innovative ways to connect with an athlete. While a heavy emphasis is on the practice of their preferred sport, it is just a piece of the puzzle; technique, strength/flexibility, nutrition, mental skills, rest/recovery and stress levels all need to be considered to boost the athlete’s goals.
In addition to coaching adults, Heather works with junior triathletes (ages 12 and over) who may be interested in pursuing multisport at the high school and collegiate level. She works under the guidance of Jenny Weber, the founder of the Z3 High Performance Triathlon Team for youth and juniors – a team focused on draft-legal racing at the highest level based out of Des Moines, Iowa
Heather started coaching part time in 2005 and in 2009 she chose to turn her passion into her profession by coaching full time after her last season racing as a Professional Triathlete. She has helped hundreds of athletes achieve their athletic goals from finishing their first Ironman to winning their age group.
